About This Trail

The Greenbrier Section of the Allegheny Trail traverses some of the most scenic terrain along this 330-mile long-distance trail that runs the length of West Virginia. This section passes through the Monongahela National Forest, crossing streams, climbing ridges, and passing through diverse forest communities. The trail provides access to remote backcountry and connects with numerous other trails for extended explorations. Backpackers enjoy the challenge of this rugged route, while day hikers can access shorter segments from various trailheads. The Allegheny Trail is part of the Great Eastern Trail system stretching from Alabama to New York.
