About This Trail
This elevated boardwalk provides access to the flooded forest environment of the Atchafalaya Basin without getting wet. Ancient cypress trees tower overhead while alligators cruise the waters below, creating an immersive swamp experience accessible to visitors of all abilities. Interpretive panels explain the ecology and cultural heritage of this remarkable landscape.
Getting There
From the Atchafalaya NWR main entrance, follow refuge signs to the boardwalk parking area. The fully accessible boardwalk begins at the signed trailhead.
