About This Trail
The Central Loop explores the most dramatic terrain of the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness, where sandstone bluffs rise above clear-running creeks and the forest feels truly wild. This section showcases the best of what the Backbone Trail offers, with overlooks, swimming holes, and the rugged beauty that makes this area unique in Louisiana.
Getting There
From the Backbone Trailhead on Forest Road 59, hike approximately 2 miles south to the Central Loop junction. The loop can be hiked in either direction and returns to the main trail.
