Backbone Trail - North Extension

Extending from the main Backbone Trail into the northern reaches of the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness, this extension climbs to additional overlooks and traverses some of the most remote terrain in the area. Rugged sandstone bluffs, deep ravines, and old-growth pine stands reward hikers willing to venture into this less-traveled section. The extension adds significantly to the wilderness experience without requiring through-hike logistics.
