About This Trail

Bald Knob Trail climbs to one of the highest points in Canaan Valley State Park, offering panoramic views of the valley, surrounding mountains, and the Dolly Sods plateau. The trail ascends through northern hardwood forest with scattered red spruce before reaching the open summit area. The high elevation supports plant communities typically found much farther north, including various berry bushes that attract wildlife. The bald summit provides 360-degree views, making this an excellent destination for photography. The trail is popular during fall foliage season when the valley below blazes with color.
