About This Trail

The Bald Rock Boardwalk provides wheelchair-accessible access to one of Alabama’s most impressive natural viewpoints. A wooden boardwalk extends from the parking area to Bald Rock, a massive granite outcrop offering panoramic views of the Talladega National Forest and distant mountain ridges. On clear days, the view extends for miles across forested valleys and rolling hills. The boardwalk passes through mountain laurel and blueberry thickets that bloom in spring, while autumn brings spectacular color to the surrounding forest. This short trail proves that dramatic scenery doesn’t require strenuous hiking, making Cheaha’s beauty accessible to visitors of all abilities. Sunrise and sunset are particularly spectacular from this vantage point.
