About This Trail
This elevated boardwalk carries visitors over the wettest areas of Bayou Cocodrie National Wildlife Refuge, providing intimate views of the swamp ecosystem without muddy boots. Cypress knees rise from dark water below, and wildlife from wood ducks to water snakes are regularly observed from the elevated vantage point. The boardwalk is fully accessible.
Getting There
From the Bayou Cocodrie NWR trailhead parking, follow the main trail to the boardwalk entrance. The elevated section begins approximately 0.25 miles from the parking area.
