About This Trail
Designed with wildlife observation in mind, this extension penetrates deeper into Bayou Cocodrie’s bottomland forest to areas favored by deer, wild turkey, and numerous bird species. Quiet hikers in early morning or evening hours stand the best chance of wildlife encounters. The trail passes through excellent habitat for neotropical migrants during spring and fall.
Getting There
From the main Bayou Cocodrie Trail, continue past the boardwalk following signs for the Wildlife Trail. The path ventures into less-visited portions of the refuge before looping back.
