This elevated boardwalk trail provides an accessible route through the heart of Bayou Sauvage’s freshwater marsh, offering close encounters with wildlife typically hidden from view. Alligators sun themselves along the boardwalk edges, wading birds stalk prey in the shallows, and the distant city skyline reminds visitors of the remarkable wilderness preserved within New Orleans city limits.
Getting There
From the Bayou Sauvage Ridge Trail parking area, follow signs to the boardwalk entrance. The path is fully accessible and suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
