About This Trail

Bear Creek Outcropping reveals a side of Mississippi most people never expect to find: massive sandstone boulders, cascading waterfalls, and lush vegetation more reminiscent of the Appalachian Mountains than the Deep South. The trail navigates between house-sized boulders, through narrow crevices filled with ferns and mosses, and past small waterfalls that flow after rain. Geology enthusiasts and adventurous hikers alike will find this hidden gem worth the trip to Mississippi’s northeastern corner.
