About This Trail

Big Frog Mountain Trail ascends to the 4,224-foot summit of Big Frog Mountain, the highest point in the Big Frog Wilderness and one of the highest peaks in the Cherokee National Forest. The strenuous trail climbs through multiple forest zones, from cove hardwoods to northern hardwoods and heath balds near the summit. The wilderness protects rugged, remote terrain with excellent wildlife habitat. Views from the summit are partially obstructed by vegetation, but openings provide glimpses of the surrounding mountains. This challenging trail rewards determined hikers with a true wilderness summit experience.
