Tracing the banks of Black Creek, Mississippi’s only federally designated Wild and Scenic River, this long-distance trail offers the state’s finest backpacking experience. The route passes white sandbars perfect for swimming and camping, traverses tupelo swamps alive with wildlife, and winds through cathedral-like pine forests. Multiple creek crossings may require wading, adding to the adventure. Backpackers treasure this trail for its primitive camping, diverse ecosystems, and genuine sense of wilderness.

Getting There

Multiple trailheads provide access. For Fairley Bridge Landing, take MS-29 south from Wiggins approximately 15 miles and turn west at the Fairley Bridge sign. For Big Creek Landing, continue south on MS-29 and follow signs east to the landing.
