This 3.1-mile trail through the Tybout Tract of Blackbird State Forest winds through a diverse canopy of oaks, maples, gums, hickories, and yellow poplars in Delaware’s northernmost state forest. Part of a 40-mile trail network across ten tracts totaling 6,000 acres, the quiet route connects to primitive campsites and is free to access year-round.

Getting There

From Smyrna, DE, take Route 6 west to Route 471 south into Blackbird State Forest. The Tybout Tract Trail is accessible from the Tybout Tract parking area along Blackbird Forest Road, approximately 1 mile south of the forest headquarters.
