About This Trail

This trail traverses one of the last remaining patches of blackland prairie in Mississippi, a rare ecosystem that once covered millions of acres across the South. The unique alkaline soils support distinctive wildflowers and grasses, while adjacent hardwood forests provide habitat diversity. Spring and fall bring peak wildflower displays, and the open prairie character offers different scenery than the typical forested Mississippi trail.
