About This Trail

Standing at 4,784 feet, Brasstown Bald is Georgia’s highest point, and the Summit Trail provides access to breathtaking views that stretch across four states on clear days. The paved but steep trail climbs from the parking area to an observation tower and visitor center at the summit, where interpretive displays explain the mountain’s natural and human history. On exceptional days, you can see the Atlanta skyline 80 miles to the south and the Great Smoky Mountains to the north. The summit hosts one of the southernmost examples of a Southern Appalachian spruce-fir forest, with rare plants adapted to the cool, misty conditions. For a longer adventure, the Arkaquah Trail connects Brasstown Bald to Track Rock Gap on an 11-mile journey through mountain wilderness.
