About This Trail
Breaks Canyon is the largest canyon east of the Mississippi, carved 1,600 feet deep by the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River. The park straddles the Kentucky-Virginia border with trails along the rim offering dramatic views into the five-mile-long gorge.
Getting There
From Elkhorn City, KY, take KY-80 east to Breaks Interstate Park on the Kentucky-Virginia border.
