About This Trail

Starting across from Shelter 1 in Chief Logan State Park, this 3-mile trail gains 403 feet through southern West Virginia’s coalfield hardwood forest. A short but steep initial climb leads to a quieter ridgeline section where encounters with other hikers are rare in this well-visited Logan County park.

Getting There

From Logan, take WV-10 north approximately 4 miles. Turn left onto Little Buffalo Creek Road and continue about 1 mile to the Chief Logan State Park entrance at 376 Little Buffalo Creek Road.
