About This Trail
This 1.7-mile loop on Burton Island Nature Preserve features raised boardwalks crossing salt marshes with open views of Indian River Bay, providing important nesting habitat for Diamondback Terrapins. Best hiked in fall through early spring to avoid summer insects, the trail passes through grassland and wetland margins with chances to spot osprey, herons, and marsh wildlife.
