About This Trail
Following the route of the historic Butterfield Overland Mail stagecoach line, this trail segment traverses rugged Ozark terrain between Devil’s Den State Park and the Ozark National Forest. The route crosses creeks, climbs ridges, and passes through remote forest with genuine backcountry character. Getting There
From Devil's Den State Park, the Butterfield Trail begins at the southern boundary near the park's group camping area. The trailhead is signed, with parking available at the nearby group camp lot.
