About This Trail
Caladesi Island State Park protects one of the few remaining completely natural barrier islands in Florida, accessible only by ferry boat from Honeymoon Island or by private vessel. This isolation has preserved the island’s natural character, with trails winding through maritime hammock forests, along mangrove-lined lagoons, and to pristine Gulf beaches consistently ranked among America’s finest. The island’s interior trail provides a genuine wilderness experience, with native vegetation, diverse bird life, and the absence of development creating a sense of discovery. The beach’s remarkable quality—fine white sand, clear water, and minimal crowds—rewards those willing to make the extra effort to reach this special place. Pack a picnic and plan to stay; the island encourages lingering.
