About This Trail
This interconnected trail network explores the scenic shorelines and pine forests around Upper and Lower Caney Lakes. The paths link campgrounds, fishing piers, and swimming beaches, making it easy to customize hike length based on interest and ability. Mature pines provide welcome shade, and numerous benches along the water’s edge invite hikers to pause and enjoy the tranquil lake views.
Getting There
From Minden, take US-80 east to LA-159 south. Follow LA-159 approximately 12 miles to Caney Lakes Recreation Area. Multiple trailheads exist throughout the area, with the main access point at the recreation area's central parking lot.
