About This Trail

The Canyon Rim Overlook Boardwalk provides stunning panoramic views of the New River Gorge and the iconic New River Gorge Bridge. This fully accessible trail features a paved boardwalk leading to multiple viewing platforms perched on the canyon rim. The views encompass the 876-foot-high bridge, one of the longest single-arch bridges in the world, as well as the ancient New River winding through the forested gorge nearly 900 feet below. Interpretive signs explain the area’s geology, history, and ecology. This is the most visited overlook in the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, and the accessible design ensures all visitors can experience these magnificent views.
