About This Trail
Named in honor of Caroline Dormon, the pioneering conservationist who championed the creation of Kisatchie National Forest, this trail follows the picturesque Kisatchie Bayou through towering pines and lush hardwood bottomlands. Sandy beaches along the bayou provide excellent swimming and fishing opportunities, while designated backcountry campsites make this ideal for overnight adventures. The varied terrain includes gentle bayou walks and moderate climbs to ridgetop views.
Getting There
From Natchitoches, take LA-6 west to Provencal. Turn south on LA-117 and continue approximately 5 miles to Forest Road 321. Turn left and follow signs to Kisatchie Bayou Recreation Area. The trailhead is located at the day-use parking area near the swimming beach.
