About This Trail

Carter Caves State Resort Park’s Cross-Country Trail links the park’s numerous caves and rock formations in a challenging loop through the rugged terrain. The trail passes cave entrances, natural bridges, box canyons, and dramatic rock shelters, showcasing the exceptional karst geology of the region. Over 20 caves honeycomb the park, and the surface trails provide access to many cave entrances and geological features. The trail traverses steep terrain and crosses several streams, requiring good fitness and sturdy footwear. This trail offers one of the most geologically diverse hiking experiences in Kentucky.

Getting There

From Olive Hill, take US-60 east to KY-182. Turn right and continue to Carter Caves State Resort Park. The trail system begins near the park lodge and welcome center.
