About This Trail

Plunging through a lush gorge alongside Cedar Run in Shenandoah National Park, this steep trail passes four waterfalls, rocky cascades, and a natural rock slide with swimming holes. Combining with Whiteoak Canyon creates a strenuous 7.3-mile circuit with 2,794 feet of elevation change from Hawksbill Gap.

Getting There

From Sperryville, take Route 231 south. At Etlan, turn right on Route 643 and continue 4.5 miles. Turn right on Route 600 to reach the lower Cedar Run trailhead near Syria, or access the upper trailhead at Hawksbill Gap on Skyline Drive at milepost 45.6.
