About This Trail

Chattahoochee Bend State Park protects one of the most pristine stretches of the Chattahoochee River, with the River Trail offering access to this wild and scenic corridor. The trail follows the river’s dramatic bend through bottomland hardwood forest, climbing occasionally to bluffs with sweeping river views before descending back to the water’s edge. The park’s relative remoteness—located well south of metro Atlanta’s developed sections of the river—provides a wilderness experience increasingly rare in the region. Wildlife is abundant, with opportunities to spot river otters, beavers, deer, wild turkeys, and numerous bird species. Backcountry campsites along the trail allow for overnight adventures in this peaceful riverside setting.
