About This Trail

Chewacla State Park near Auburn features scenic trails through a landscape enhanced by Civilian Conservation Corps craftsmen during the 1930s. The Falls Trail leads to Chewacla Falls, a scenic cascade tumbling over rocky ledges into a swimming hole that provides refreshing relief during hot Alabama summers. CCC-built stone structures line the trails and dam the creek to create Lake Chewacla. The varied terrain includes creek valleys, forested ridges, and lakeside sections with diverse habitats and wildlife. The park’s proximity to Auburn University makes it popular with students and families, but the interconnected trail system disperses visitors across the landscape.
