About This Trail

Chimney Rocks Trail climbs to a dramatic series of rock pinnacles offering some of the finest views in the Cherokee National Forest. The trail ascends steadily through mixed hardwood forest before reaching the exposed rock formations that give the trail its name. These chimney-like pillars of rock provide excellent viewpoints overlooking the surrounding mountains and valleys. The exposed rock supports interesting plant communities adapted to the harsh conditions, including mountain laurel and wild azalea that bloom spectacularly in spring. This moderately challenging hike rewards visitors with outstanding scenery and a unique geological destination.
