About This Trail

The Clemmer Trail climbs from the Ocoee River valley to ridgetop overlooks providing spectacular views of the Ocoee Gorge and surrounding mountains. The trail gains significant elevation through mixed forest, with several rocky outcrops offering rest stops with views. This area is rich in Cherokee history, and the trail passes near sites associated with the Trail of Tears. The overlooks provide excellent vantage points for watching the whitewater activity on the Ocoee River below, famous as the venue for the 1996 Olympic kayaking events. Fall foliage makes this an especially scenic destination.
