About This Trail

Coon Den Falls Trail descends through rich forest to a beautiful waterfall tucked away in the White Rocks Mountain backcountry area. The falls cascade over a rocky ledge into a grotto-like setting, with ferns and mosses covering the surrounding rock faces. The trail passes through mature hardwood forest with large tulip poplars and hemlocks, and spring wildflowers blanket the forest floor. The relatively short distance to the falls belies the remote feeling of this hidden gem, where visitors often have the waterfall to themselves. The pool at the base provides a refreshing destination on hot summer days, though the water remains quite cold year-round.
