About This Trail

This short but enchanting boardwalk trail winds through a flooded cypress swamp where ancient trees rise from dark water draped in Spanish moss. The elevated walkway provides intimate views of this mysterious ecosystem without getting feet wet, while interpretive signs explain the ecology of these unique wetlands. Turtles, wading birds, and countless other creatures inhabit the swamp, making wildlife watching a constant pleasure on this quick, accessible nature break.

Getting There

From Jackson, take the Natchez Trace Parkway north to milepost 122.0, located approximately 20 miles north of the city. The Cypress Swamp parking area is on the west side of the Parkway with the boardwalk beginning at the parking lot.
