About This Trail
DeSoto Falls is the crown jewel of DeSoto State Park, a 104-foot waterfall plunging over a sandstone ledge into a misty pool below. The Falls Loop Trail provides easy access to multiple viewpoints of this spectacular cascade, winding through mountain laurel and rhododendron along the West Fork of Little River. The trail visits both upper and lower overlooks, allowing hikers to appreciate the falls from different perspectives. Beyond the falls, the loop continues through diverse forest habitats with seasonal wildflowers and wildlife. The trail’s gentle grades and well-maintained surface make it accessible for visitors of all ages and abilities. Visit after rain for the most impressive water flow, or during winter when ice formations add magic to the scene.
