About This Trail
Devil’s Millhopper is a 120-foot-deep sinkhole that plunges into the Florida aquifer, creating a miniature rainforest in the middle of North Florida. A 232-step staircase descends to the bottom where small springs and a unique microclimate support plants typically found hundreds of miles north. The geological formation is named for its funnel shape, which resembles a grain hopper.
Getting There
From Gainesville, FL, take NW 53rd Avenue north. Turn left onto Millhopper Road and continue to the park.
