About This Trail

Double Arch Trail leads to a unique geological formation featuring two distinct arches carved from the same sandstone ridge. The trail descends through mixed hardwood forest, crosses a small stream, and climbs to the impressive double arch set against the forested hillside. The larger arch spans approximately 50 feet, while the smaller companion arch adds visual interest to this remarkable formation. The forest setting provides shade and creates a peaceful atmosphere for contemplating these natural wonders. This trail sees fewer visitors than some of the more famous arches, offering a quieter experience while still showcasing the exceptional geology of the Red River Gorge.
