About This Trail
Though Louisiana is known for its flat terrain, this trail leads to the state’s highest point atop Driskill Mountain in the piney hills of north-central Louisiana. The modest climb through mixed pine and hardwood forest culminates at a summit marker and register where hikers can document their conquest of the Pelican State’s roof. While not a strenuous hike by mountain standards, it’s a fun goal for state highpointers and offers peaceful forest walking year-round.
Getting There
From Arcadia, take LA-147 north for approximately 12 miles. Turn right onto Mount Zion Road and continue 3 miles to a small gravel parking area on the left marked with a Driskill Mountain sign. The trail begins at the gate at the end of the parking area.
