About This Trail

The Eagle Rock Loop is Arkansas’s premier multi-day backpacking adventure, combining several trails into a challenging circuit through the Ouachita Mountains. The route crosses the Little Missouri River multiple times via potentially waist-deep fords, traverses rugged ridgelines, and passes through remote hollows far from civilization. Diverse scenery ranges from riverside camps to panoramic ridge views, and the sense of wilderness immersion is unmatched in the state. Experienced backpackers treasure this as one of the finest loops in the South.

Getting There

Multiple trailheads provide access. The most popular starting point is Albert Pike Recreation Area: from Glenwood, take US-70 west to AR-369 north, then follow signs to Albert Pike. Shady Lake Recreation Area offers an alternative start via AR-27 north from Glenwood.
