About This Trail
Elk Falls is a powerful 50-foot waterfall where the Elk River plunges into a narrow gorge carved through ancient metamorphic rock. The falls can be viewed from above or by carefully descending to the base. Extreme caution is advised due to dangerous conditions.
Getting There
From Banner Elk, NC, take US-19E north to Elk Park. Turn left onto Main Street, then right onto Elk Falls Road. Continue to the small parking area at the end.
