About This Trail

The Falls of Hills Creek Trail descends to three beautiful waterfalls, including the second-highest waterfall in West Virginia. The upper falls drops 25 feet and is easily accessible via a boardwalk. The middle falls plunges 45 feet over a rock face into a scenic pool. The lower falls, the most impressive, cascades 63 feet into a rocky grotto. The trail descends steadily, with boardwalks and steps providing access to viewing platforms at each falls. The return climb is strenuous but worthwhile. The hemlock and rhododendron-lined gorge creates a lush setting, and the falls are impressive year-round, with spring bringing peak flows and winter creating ice formations.
