About This Trail
This trail leads to an overlook of Alligator Marsh, where the park’s namesake reptiles are regularly spotted basking on muddy banks or cruising through the shallow water. The path crosses pine flatwoods before reaching the marsh edge, where a breeze off Lake Pontchartrain provides relief on warm days. Early morning visits offer the best wildlife viewing opportunities.
Getting There
From Fontainebleau State Park entrance, follow park signs to the Alligator Marsh trailhead, located at the park's eastern boundary near the group camping area.
