About This Trail
This enchanting trail passes beneath the spreading canopy of centuries-old live oak trees, their massive limbs creating natural sculptures draped in resurrection fern and Spanish moss. The path leads to the shores of Lake Pontchartrain and the ruins of a 19th-century sugar mill, blending natural beauty with Louisiana history. Picnic tables beneath the oaks provide idyllic lunch spots, and the trail is popular with families and photographers alike.
Getting There
From Mandeville, take US-190 east to the Fontainebleau State Park entrance on the left. After entering the park, follow the main road to the Oak Grove parking area near the beach. The trail begins at the signed trailhead near the historic sugar mill ruins.
