About This Trail

Honeymoon Island State Park preserves one of Florida’s last remaining undeveloped barrier islands, with trails exploring diverse coastal habitats from virgin slash pine forest to mangrove swamps and pristine beaches. The Osprey Trail winds through the island’s interior, passing numerous osprey nests and providing excellent bird watching opportunities throughout the year. The island’s natural beach is considered one of Florida’s finest, with clear Gulf waters and minimal development. The park offers a rare glimpse of what Florida’s Gulf Coast looked like before intensive development, with native vegetation communities and wildlife thriving in a protected setting. Pet-friendly beaches on the south end make this popular with dog owners seeking natural beach experiences.
