About This Trail

Ascending nearly 3,000 feet over 4.7 miles from Horse Creek Campground at 1,800 feet to the Appalachian Trail and balds at 4,550 feet, this rugged forest road crosses Horse Creek numerous times. Rocky terrain and steep grades through Cherokee National Forest’s Bald Mountains reward with high-elevation panoramas.

Getting There

From Greeneville, take TN-107 east approximately 2.5 miles past the TN-351 junction. Turn right and follow signs to Horse Creek Recreation Area in Cherokee National Forest.
