About This Trail
This is not a trail for the faint of heart. The Indian Staircase is a crack in a cliff face that requires hand-and-foot climbing to ascend. The scramble is thrilling but dangerous—several injuries and fatalities have occurred here. Only attempt this in dry conditions with proper footwear and experience. The reward is dramatic cliff-top views of the Red River Gorge.
Getting There
From Slade, KY, take KY-715 south past Sky Bridge. The unmarked trailhead is along the road—detailed directions are available from local outfitters.
