Kates Falls Trail
Short waterfall hike in New River Gorge National Park.
About This Trail
Kates Falls Trail leads to a beautiful 50-foot waterfall tucked into a forested hollow in the New River Gorge National Park. The short trail descends through mixed hardwood forest to the base of the falls, where water cascades over a layered rock face into a scenic pool. The falls are fed by a small stream, so water flow varies seasonally—spring and early summer typically offer the best flow. The secluded setting provides a peaceful escape from the more visited areas of the park. This easy trail makes an excellent short hike for families or those with limited time, and combines well with longer hikes in the park.
