About This Trail

Kingdom Come State Park sits atop Pine Mountain near the Virginia border, offering trails through unique rock formations and to spectacular overlooks. The park’s trail system passes Log Rock, a massive boulder balanced on a narrow base, and leads to overlooks with views extending into Virginia. The high elevation creates a cooler climate supporting northern plant species, and spring wildflowers are exceptional. The park is named for the novel ‘The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come’ by John Fox Jr., set in this region. The combination of unusual geology, mountain scenery, and literary history makes this a distinctive Kentucky destination.
