Lacassine NWR Levee Extension

For hikers wanting more of Lacassine’s spectacular marshland, this levee extension continues beyond the main Pool Loop to traverse additional managed wetlands. The flat walking surface allows visitors to cover distance easily while scanning for the vast flocks of ducks, geese, and wading birds that make this refuge famous. Winter visits coincide with peak waterfowl numbers.
