About This Trail

Lake Lurleen State Park offers peaceful trails through the forested hills surrounding its namesake lake, providing an easy escape from nearby Tuscaloosa. The Tashka Trail, named using a Choctaw word meaning ‘warrior,’ circles through mixed pine and hardwood forest with frequent glimpses of the lake’s sparkling waters. The gentle terrain makes this suitable for families and casual hikers, while the varied habitats support diverse wildlife including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and numerous songbirds. Fishing piers and beaches along the lake provide alternative activities, making this an excellent destination for a full day outdoors. The park’s developed facilities include camping, cabins, and a camp store.
