About This Trail

The Laurel Falls Trail, also known as the Hampton Blueline Trail, leads to one of Tennessee’s most spectacular waterfalls—a 50-foot cascade thundering over massive rock ledges into Laurel Fork Gorge. The trail follows an old railroad grade through the Pond Mountain Wilderness, passing through dense rhododendron tunnels that bloom magnificently in late spring. The gorge’s steep walls create a dramatic setting, and the trail crosses several streams before reaching the falls overlook. Adventurous hikers can scramble down to the base of the falls for an up-close experience. The trail continues beyond the falls for those seeking more remote backcountry exploration in the wilderness area.
