About This Trail

Lindy Point Overlook Trail leads to one of West Virginia’s most photographed viewpoints, offering a breathtaking panorama of Blackwater Canyon. The short, easy trail winds through mixed hardwood forest before emerging at a rocky outcrop with views extending deep into the forested gorge. The overlook is particularly spectacular at sunrise and sunset when golden light illuminates the canyon walls. Fall foliage transforms the canyon into a sea of brilliant oranges, reds, and yellows. The point is named for the daughter of Senator Henry Gassaway Davis, who built the nearby Blackwater Lodge. A sturdy viewing platform provides safe access to the views.
