About This Trail
This interpretive loop trail provides an in-depth look at the longleaf pine ecosystem that once covered much of the South. Informative signs explain the role of fire in maintaining these forests, the wildlife species that depend on longleaf habitat, and the conservation efforts to restore this endangered ecosystem. The easy, well-maintained path is suitable for all ages.
Getting There
From the Longleaf Vista Recreation Area parking lot, follow signs for the Interpretive Loop. The trail begins near the restroom facilities and loops through representative longleaf habitat.
